David hails from Nottingham where he grew up and is still a frequent visitor. In 1992, after his studies at Lancaster University, he was awarded his BA (Hons) in Urban Policy and Race Relations. David then went on to play a key role as President of the Students Union and enjoyed the opportunity to enhance the life of students at a time of considerable change within Higher Education. In 2003, David was awarded his MBA (Masters in Business Administration) with a distinction from Leicester Business School. David is currently planning to embark on a PhD with specific focus on the cost and nature of conflict to UK companies.Mediation And Conflict Resolution
In 1994, David established Leicestershire Mediation Service (LMS) - one of the first community mediation schemes in the UK. David was an active community mediator and managed the Service for eight exciting years during which time, he established the nationally acclaimed Conflict Resolution in Schools Programme (CRISP), was a founding member of the Midlands Mediation Network and was active in numerous local and regional mediation, restorative justice, and community regeneration programmes. Furthermore, David acted as host to a number of international visitors who came to LMS to share best practice and ideas. In doing so David established links as far a field as New Zealand, Israel, South Africa and Norway.Voluntary Sector
For four years David was Chair of Voluntary Action Leicester (VAL) and oversaw the fundraising and subsequent move to a purpose built voluntary action centre in the heart of the City. He was a member of the National Executive of Mediation UK for two years and locally, he was active on the Leicester Crime Reduction Partnership along with many other local and regional bodies and groups. David was an active member of Leicester Common Purpose and completed the Common Purpose programme in 1997.Workplace Mediation
David established TCM in the late 90’s and has been at the forefront of the development of workplace mediation within Government and Industry across the UK. He has set up numerous in-house workplace mediation schemes, has successfully mediated in numerous
workplace conflicts and has undertaken extensive research into the role and benefits of workplace mediation. He is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the UK’s foremost workplace mediators and conflict resolution experts. Recently, David was awarded his MBA having undertaken detailed research into the effectiveness of workplace mediation within the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Croydon. Additionally, David has recently contributed to a book entitled Managing Conflict in the Workplace, published in 2004 by IRS LexisNexis.Do you need a speaker for your event or conference?
