Bluechips are turning towards ADR

Twenty percent of the UK’s leading companies are reviewing their alternative dispute resolution (ADR) policies, according to research conducted by litigation heavyweight Herbert Smith. The research, headed by Herbert Smith head of ADR Alexander Oddy, questioned 21 leading bluechips, including Shell, Royal Bank of Scotland, Merrill Lynch, KPMG, Zurich, UBS and GE, on their dispute management.

Workplace disputes cost UK £33bn a year

Disputes with employees, colleagues, customers and suppliers cost the UK economy £33 billion a year, yet fully two thirds of employers fail to educate staff on how to avoid and manage them, with more than half even leaving senior managers to sink or swim. My Promise To You

This poem was written by Helen, a participant on a workplace mediator training course being run by TCM at Tameside Borough Council in Greater Manchester. Helen said that she wrote the poem in one go and that it reflects her understanding of the relationship between the mediator and the parties.
